Can you believe the last day of school is this Thursday? We are so blessed to have been able to teach, nurture and love your children this year!  Please join us on Thursday, May 11th for our Spring Sing and Promotion program.

Come straight to the church sanctuary once you drop your child off in the morning. We will begin our photo montage at 9:15 am.  Your child will return to class after the program to enjoy the remainder of their special day.

It’s been a wonderful year!  Thank you for sharing your children with us!  See you on Thursday!

Easter Parties

We had a fun and busy week at preschool this week with pictures on Wednesday and Easter parties on Thursday.

The children really enjoyed finding their eggs outside and kept a look out for the Easter Bunny :).

We would love to see you here at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Sunday morning for our Easter service if you are looking for somewhere to attend.

Have a blessed and safe Easter weekend.

Construction Week

The threes students have had a fun filled week learning all about construction!

Students were able to saw and sand a board, nail wood and glue supplies to make a wood sculpture and many other fun activities. What an exciting week!

We are also loving the new shade structure out on the playground. We were sad to see the beautiful tree go but the new structure is wonderful.

We hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and we are glad to see everyone’s little smiling faces back at school this week.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Next week is spring break (March 20-24), have a fun and safe time. We look forward to hearing all the stories the students will have to share when they come back to school. 🙂

The Pre-K classes had a fun time today hunting around the campus for Leprechauns. When they got back to their rooms, they found his footprints and a special treat but did not see him, maybe next year!

St. Patricks Day 2017

Fall is busy and fun!

October has come and gone and what a great month it was.  The kiddos had a wonderful time with their Fall Festival and Halloween celebrations and Halloween Daze at the church served over 500 people from the preschool, church and community.

img_1110We also had a great Usborne book fair.  We were able to provide the teachers with over 400 in new books!

Now that November has arrived, here are some dates to remember.

7-17th – Thanksgiving Food drive

Although we strive to do good works every day of the year, the holidays are a wonderful time to share with your children the joy of giving back.  We will once again be collecting non-perishable food for Thanksgiving (& Christmas).

10th – Photo proofs should arrive

15th – Visit from the Zoo – Don’t forget to wear your shirts!

Original Works products due to arrive!

23rd – Thanksgiving Feast during our school day.

24th – No School – Enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

25th – Pictures due back and will be passed out November 29th.

Zoo visit & customized shirts!

What is the next best thing to visiting cute, not so little, Nandi at the Reid Park Zoo.  Well, a visit from the zoo, of course.  We are excited to be able to share with our children the Zoo to You Outreach Program from the Reid Park Zoo.   We will be learning all about the animals and will feature a visit from some live animals.   This fun experience will take place in November.  To help pay for the cost of this visit, one of our parents, Jenny Cotter, is volunteering her time and purchasing the supplies to create one of a kind special shirts for our kiddos.  The shirts cost $10 each and you may choose one of three colors and 3 designs.  Jenny will be taking orders before and after school this week.

Colorful, wonderful world of preschool

We have had so much fun these past several weeks.  The time is flying by.  The Suns and Crayon Kids continue to enjoy color weeks with red erupting volcanoes, yellow cornmeal play and green science fun.  It has also been fun to eat foods that are the color of the week. Our pre-k bunch was full of spots during Dot Day, and continue to enjoy dress up, building, science, painting and creating, while also working hard in their learning centers.  Big and littles both experimented with blending colors and Wednesdays Whiz Kids used the sun to cook some yummy s’mores, and discovered what will roll down our ramps.

We are learning the pledge and how to take care of our earth.  The kiddos have enjoyed sharing about their families and pets as well. We had our first Chapel Time with Miss Meredith and learned about the Golden Rule.  The kiddos love visiting Mr. Sam’s exercise class and running laps on Wednesdays.  Fall planting has also begun as we planted spinach, carrots, beans, basil and our first ever attempt at growing a blueberry plant.  Let’s hope for success.

Don’t forget to check out your child’s Shutterfly page for more class info and tons of pictures.

First day was a success!

Well today was an exciting start to the first day.  The sky decided to open up and pour.  I don’t mean just little rain…we were greeted with a downpour, thunder and lightning. Remarkably, the kiddos did not mind.  They just missed playground time.  We had one of the best first days ever.  Very few tears, and those moms should be better tomorrow.  The kiddos did great!  Looking forward to a great day tomorrow.

Whiz Kids

We are excited to once again offer our very popular Pre-K program, Whiz Kids,  for the upcoming school year.  Registration for the first session will take place at Meet the Teacher night.  Should you wish to get your child on the list for the first 7 week session, contact the Director today to add your name to the list.  The class is limited to 14 children.

What is Whiz Kids?

IMAG0708Put the IPad down and get unplugged!

Through the Whiz Kids Enrichment Program, children will have the opportunity to discover their ever changing and growing world.  Through movement, games and teacher engaged activities, participants will take a creative and fun approach to increase their math and science awareness.

IMAG0720The goal is to hear the kiddos say,

“WOW!  I didn’t know math and science was so much fun!”

Due to the extreme popularity of this program, we will offer four 7 week sessions for the 2016/17 school year.   For children to receive the full benefit of this program, they should have turned four years old.  Once your three year old is four, they will be eligible to participate.  Space is limited.  The first session will begin August 31, 2016.  Sign up for Session 1 today, or on Meet Your Teacher Night.   There is an additional fee for the program.

Never goodbye…but see you later!

Where has the time gone?

We are sad to say our last day of school is May 12, 2016.

IMAG0346The last week of school will include a fun week of favorite activities including the always popular Eegees, Popcorn & Bubbles Day.  The prek kiddos will also have crazy hair and water balloon fun on Wednesday.

The week will end with our annual spring sing and promotion ceremony. We will begin the slide show around 9:15 in the church sanctuary.  After the children sing, they will go to the Narthex and then walk down the aisle to be presented and receive ribbon medallions. After all classes are presented, you will have the brief opportunity to take class photos, however, we ask that the children remain on the stage with their teachers and class.  At the conclusion of the program, all children will return to their classrooms with their teachers. Photos with teachers can be taken in the classroom.  Thanks to all the families who are able to share in this special day, and who have supported us throughout the year.

IMG_1297editIt is always hard to say goodbye.  Especially to the little ones who will be going off to kindergarten.  We know that we have given them our best and that they are ready to join the world of big kids as they continue their learning adventure, but we will miss their special hugs.  Mrs. Monier’s sentiment from a few years ago still holds true for each new class of children that pass through our doors.  “Finished my last day of preschool – As I opened my classroom door at the end of the day, it dawned on me that it wasn’t so much about what I’d taught them, but all the things they taught me: How to laugh, tolerance, pure joy, curiosity and unconditional love, just to name a few. So, to my little people, my best wishes will always follow you, along with a piece of my heart! Love you all!”
